ASEAN business leader urges listing of major regional projects

Munir Majid, President of the ASEAN Business Club, proposed on Thursday the listing of regional infrastructure projects to boost liquidity. "There are a few very bankable projects," said Munir, suggesting that their flotation on regional stock markets would stimulate foreign direct investment.  At a business roundtable organized by the ABC and its Kuala Lumpur branch in the Vietnamese capital, officials and company executives spoke about the need to raise investment.

The Asean Business Club (ABC) and Kuala Lumpur Business Club (KLBC) led a highlevel delegation for a joint business mission to Hanoi to explore trade and investment opportunities in Vietnam. The business mission was headed by Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed and was received by the President of Vietnam, H.E. Two chapters in RCEP agreement to conclude in June: Mustapa

Economic and technical cooperation chapters will be the firrst two chapters to be concluded during the 13th round of negotiations, ahead of plans to seal the deal by year-end. "Negotiations on consolidated text are being expedited," he told an Asean Economic Community (AEC) 2025 dialogue session. The RCEP regional trade agreement involves 10 Asean members plus China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand, which together contribute 30 per cent of global GDP.

WEF Launches ASEAN Regional Business Council, Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak Appointed As Its Inaugural Chair

Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak has been appointed the inaugural chair of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Regional Business Council (RBC) which was launched on 25 October 2016 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The RBC is made up of 25 Asean businesses and 30 global companies, who will focus on areas such as building infrastructure, promoting cross-border trade and investment in the region, developing a digital economy, examining the future of jobs and industry in the region, and championing the principles of inclusive growth.
