Asean Business Club (ABC) Co-Chairman Datuk Nazir Razak has urged the government to lay out Malaysia’s strategy for the Asean Economic Community (AEC), which will be a reality from next year.He said Malaysia, the Asean chairman in 2015, should further push the country’s aspiration and contribution to making the AEC a more meaningful economic reality.
ABC delegates had an opportunity to listen to Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia at a special networking luncheon hosted by CIMB Group. She shared on what the business community can expect from the impending financial integration for Malaysia and ASEAN.

The ABC 4th Annual Gala Dinner was held alongside the forum. Speakers at the dinner included His Excellency Ambassador Kirk Wagar, U.S. Ambassador to Singapore who spoke about America’s continued and significant contribution and support to the ASEAN integration agenda. Former Vice Chancellor of Germany, Dr. Philipp Rösler, who is the Managing Director and Member of the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum, gave a speech on transformation in a disruptive world.
Key regional business leaders and stakeholders from across ASEAN converged in Singapore for the two-day ASEAN Business Club Forum to identify bottlenecks and barriers hindering free trade ahead of implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. The forum was held from 8th-9th September at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.
The ASEAN Business Club spearheaded a delegation to Manila, which included a courtesy call on President Benigno S. Aquino III and a unique roundtable discussion with members of the Philippine government. The panelists at this roundtable were Gregory Domingo, Secretary of Trade and Industry, Cesar V. Purisima, Secretary of Finance and Bangko Sentral Governor, Amando Tetangco Jr.
