ASEAN Business Council (ABC) and CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI) were the supporting partners for the Sweden-Southeast Asia Business Summit, held at the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur on 6th and 7th February 2018.
Tan Sri Dr. Munir Majid, Chairman of CARI, spoke on the panel with the topic on “Malaysia, Southeast Asia and Asia – Changing geopolitical realities in a more Asia centric world”. The session was moderated by Jukhee Hong, Director of Operations, CIMB ASEAN Research Institute.
Other speakers were Tan Sri Andrew Sheng, Advisor for CARI cum Distinguished Fellow, Asia Global Institute, The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Deunden Nikomborirak, Research Director for Economic Governance at the Thailand Development Research Institute; Dato’ Steven CM Wong, Deputy Chief Executive of the Institute for Strategic and International Studies, and Dato’ Dr. Ooi Kee Beng, Executive Director of the Penang Institute.
Jukhee Hong also moderated another panel discussion on “Southeast Asia – Sustainable Growth Strategies in a Changing International Economic Environment” with panelists Tan Sri Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Chairman of EUMCCI; Datuk Zainal Amanshah, Chief Executive Officer, InvestKL; Mr. Johan Bygge, Chairman, EQT Asia Pacific; Mr. Sean Yokota, Chief Economist Asia, SEB and Mr. Todd Ashton, President, Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
The summit attracted 26 Swedish companies, business leaders and decision makers from Sweden and the ASEAN region. The Summit was organised by the Embassy of Sweden in partnership with the Swedish Trade and Invest Council Sweden. The guests of honours were H.E. Mikael Damberg, Minister for Enterprise and Innovation of Sweden and Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia.
